Yes, the literal meaning in the college sense that all of you can relate to is the hard Thursday night followed by grinding through classes feeling like shit or “playing hurt” all day. Of course, the Friday late night followed by Beat the following day or a Darty; playing hard on Friday night and playing hurt on Saturday. All of you can relate to staying up late hours studying followed by finding a way to grind through a week of exams with a bad cold or having “to play hurt”.

However, beyond the college implication, Play Hard/Play Hurt is a metaphor for what it takes to achieve the highest levels of success in your chosen field and reach your potential. Playing hard is about out working your peers and competition. Playing hurt is about your ability to rise the occasion when you do not feel like it. It is about making the sacrifice that others will not make. It is what will separate you from your peers and competitors!
